“AI and Patient Experience - A Balancing Act” session will provide practical tips on how to balance AI and human interaction in patient engagement
SR Health, the leader in patient engagement and innovation, has partnered with Boston Children’s Hospital to present AI and Patient Experience - A Balancing Act at HIMSS20, an annual conference hosted by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. (HIMSS) which focuses on education, innovation and collaboration to reimagine health and wellness. The session (ID: 20) will take place Tuesday, March 10, 2020, from 10:30am – 11:30am in room W303A.
As the industry continues to change, healthcare organizations must recognize a key difference between patients and “consumers,” which is the unique relationship patients create with their healthcare providers. While patients do want consumer-like conveniences and personalization, it is key hospitals and health systems strike the right balance between technology and human interaction to ensure patients feel valued as individuals. Finding this position puts the onus on healthcare organizations to anticipate patients’ needs based on accurate data around patient preferences.
During their HIMSS session, Kevin Pawl, Senior Director of Patient Access at Boston Children’s Hospital and Nagi Prabhu, Chief Product Officer of Solutionreach and its SR Health initiative, will invite attendees to examine how to integrate AI into patient communication in ways that enhance and personalize the patient experience. By sharing challenges and opportunities identified at Boston Children’s, they will help attendees develop communication and access strategies that strengthen the patient/provider relationship.
As an essential conversation session, the presentation will comprise the first 20 minutes followed by 40 minutes of open discussion. After providing details on Boston Children’s use of AI in patient engagement settings, attendees will have the opportunity to ask about AI-driven patient communication and interact with the expert presenters. This allows for greater collaboration between session attendees and speakers and offer an opportunity for additional best practices to be shared.
“AI-driven patient engagement has the potential to reduce the amount of work healthcare staff spend on mundane repetitive tasks while also improving the patient experience,” says Prabhu. “The key is finding the right balance between automation and personal interactions. The right solutions, implemented in the right way can do this. In this session, we hope to provide insights into what the right solutions and implementation processes look like.”
